DEI and DEIB

In the modern workplace, employers must actively address diversity as well as equity, inclusion and belonging. Years of social inequality have created the need for a diverse, more inclusive environment in all industries. Effective DEI is not about numbers -it is working to ensure all members of an organization are valued and heard. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) issues are often addressed by Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). These associations allow employees with a shared identity, affiliation, or interest to work together to advance DEI efforts within an organization. ERGs now include associations for women, employees of a particular race or ethnicity, employees with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ employees. The DEIB approach is meant to improve workflow, workplace dynamics, productivity, and an organization's overall community. When an organization decides to include these in their core values, they often realize success that goes beyond increased revenue. These companies also enjoy increased employee retention and effectiveness, even with a remote workforce.
