Diversity

With rapidly changing demographics, the world is becoming more diverse. The human condition is improved when we hear from underrepresented voices. Diversity is more than just boxes checked on an application or census form. The intersectionality of social identities contributes to discrimination and disadvantages for anyone with one or more marginalized status. These speakers help audiences navigate the impact on campus, in the community and in the workplace.

FAQ's
Diversity is important from a human rights standpoint because it encourages everyone to have a seat at the table and is inclusive of all races, genders, abilities, and sexual orientations. It also makes for better businesses, economies, and societies.
Diversity allows for more ideas and experiences to be exchanged, and thus makes us smarter. As people, we are constantly learning from each other and diversity brings new perspectives to the learning process. As a result, we can acquire new language skills, new knowledge, and new ways of thinking. A recent example is Blair Imani’s “Smarter In Seconds”: a series of bite-size videos that tackle subjects like cultural appropriation and gender expression for her audience of more than 400,000 followers (who she calls Smarties).
Businesses with diverse workplaces not only have a better sense of community and increased employee engagement, but they also outperform less diverse companies. Diversity helps companies evolve, retain top talent, and problem solve in more creative ways.
As demographics expand, it is imperative to evolve our workplaces and campuses to include the increasingly diverse population. Diversity benefits society, businesses, and schools, and a speaker can help navigate this improvement.
